Public Health

Change4Life South Tyneside is an innovative wellbeing programme that offers advice and support to help local people lead a healthier life, including:

  • stopping smoking
  • cutting back on alcohol
  • healither eating
  • getting more exercise
  • mental health & wellbeing
  • sexual health
  • NHS Health Checks
  • Start4Life

From June residents will be able to self-refer to gain advice on how they can take small steps to live a healthier and longer life.

Health professionals including GPs will also be able to refer people into the programme which is aimed at tackling health inequalities by taking a life-course approach working with children, adults and families.

The Change4Life wellbeing programme is a key priority for the Council since it took on responsibility for public health in 2013.
